BCWBS, Wheelchair Basketball Canada & Rick Hansen Invite You to the 2012 National Wheelchair Basketball Championships May 18-20th in Richmond, BC
Canadians are invited to join Rick Hansen and some of Canada's top wheelchair basketball players as they compete for the gold at the 2012 National Championships May 18-20, 2012 at the Richmond Oval. The tournament is held in conjunction with the Canadian Wheelchair Basketball League (CWBL) Women’s National Championship, where the best female club teams in the country also compete to decide a National Champion. Members of the Canadian Men's and Women's Teams will utilize the National Championships to hone their skills in advance of the London 2012 Paralympic Summer Games (August 29 - September 9) where Canada has taken home a combined five gold and one silver medal in the last five Paralympics. Don't miss the elite showcase of athleticism and skill that make wheelchair basketball a highly competitive and exciting spectator sport! The tournaments will celebrate "Difference Makers" in the sport of wheelchair basketball in honour of the 25th anniversary of the Man in Motion World Tour. In fact, the Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay will make its way to the Richmond Oval on Sunday, May 20, 2012 for a special public celebration following the championship games. The cheerful community celebration will feature amazing local culture and entertainment – prior to the exciting arrival of Richmond’s final medal-bearer of the day! In addition to the exciting live entertainment on stage, there will be displays from community partners and interactive demonstrations.
