Athlete Assistance Program

Annually, Wheelchair Basketball Canada nominates the top ranked athletes from the National Team pool to receive funding through the Sport Canada Athlete Assistance Program (AAP). The AAP assists international caliber athletes with their training and competition needs, through the provision of a living and training allowance and, where applicable, tuition expenses

Athletes who are approved for funding and are financially supported through the AAP are referred to as carded athletes. The top 12 ranked athletes are named to the National Team and receive a senior card, while D-cards are awarded to the 13th -18th ranked athletes in each program.
