The IV Parapan American Games are a continental, multi-sport event featuring more than 1,500 athletes from 26 countries. Thirteen sports will be contested at the Games, including wheelchair basketball.

Both the Canadian Sr. Men's and Women's National Wheelchair Basketball Teams will compete in Guadalajara in search of a berth to the 2012 Paralympic Games in London. In order to secure a spot in London next summer, the Canadian wheelchair basketball teams must place in the top 3 at the Parapan American Games.
