Canadian National Wheelchair Basketball Teams to make Final Parapan Am Games Preparations at Brock University

Janet McLachlan(OTTAWA, ONT.) With sights clearly set on the gold medal finals of their respective Toronto 2015 Parapan Am Games events, and their only shot at qualifying for the 2016 Paralympic Games within target, the Canadian Men’s and Women’s National Wheelchair Basketball squads will take up arms at Brock University July 27 – August 2 as part of their final preparations for competition.

The Toronto 2015 Parapan Am Games, which are scheduled for August 7 – 15, 2015, are crucial for both national teams. The Canadian Men are the defending London 2012 Paralympic champions and must finish amongst the top two teams in Toronto in order to qualify for Rio 2016. On the women’s side, Team Canada sits atop the world rankings as the reigning world champion, and must finish amongst the top three teams in order to punch their ticket to Rio.

Media and spectators are welcome to attend (free of charge) the Canadian Women’s final four warm-up games prior to the start of Toronto 2015 wheelchair basketball competition when they take on Germany on consecutive evenings July 28-31 starting at 7p.m. ET.
