Don “Butch” Steponchev Inducted Into Sports Officials Canada New Virtual Hall of Fame Honouring the Best Canadian Officiating

Butch(OTTAWA, ONT.) – In celebration of the inaugural National Officials Day, Sports Officials Canada is pleased to announce the launch of a new virtual Hall of Fame honouring the best in Canadian officiating.

Every year since 2003, Sports Officials Canada has presented awards for excellence in the field of officiating. The program has grown from two awards for top Male and Female officials to include the Allen G. Rae Builder Award and the Ron Foxcroft Award for Excellence in Professional Officiating. The program also includes the Jean Riley Senft Integrity Award which is presented at the discretion of the SOC Board of Directors.

All of the winners from 2003 -2012 are being formally inducted to the new Hall of Fame when it launches online today. A total of 35 award winners, including 11 female and 24 male recipients are included in the list of inductees who represent 23 different sports. The Hall is truly a unique concept and serves to honour the best in Canadian officiating.
