Groups For 2014 Women’s World Wheelchair Basketball Championship To Be Determined In Draw February 20th

(Ottawa, Ont.) Wheelchair Basketball Canada, in conjunction with the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF), will host a draw Thursday February 20, 2014 at 11:00am ET, to determine the competition groups for the 2014 Women’s World Wheelchair Basketball Championship (2014WWWBC).

The 2014WWWBC is the largest women’s world championship in history and will take place June 20-28 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto. Over 400 athletes, coaches, officials, delegates, and volunteers will attend the event that features 12 participating countries.

IWBF President Maureen Orchard will facilitate the draw. Joining her will be 2014WWWBC Tournament Director Wendy Gittens, and other members of the tournament’s Organizing Committee.

“Canada is extremely excited to host this tournament. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of an amazing event that will leave a lasting legacy for female athletes and the sport of wheelchair basketball in Canada and around the world. Canadians have an unprecedented opportunity to experience the sport firsthand and cheer on our countries finest ahead of the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games,” said Gittens.

The twelve countries participating in the upcoming tournament that will be part of the draw are:
