(OTTAWA, ONTARIO) Wheelchair Basketball Canada is pleased to welcome a new addition to the organization as Julie Ma joins the team in the role of Communications Coordinator.
“We are pleased to welcome Julie to the Wheelchair Basketball Canada family,” said Executive Director Wendy Gittens. “She is a forward thinker who brings great passion for the game of basketball and a solid foundation of experience in the communications portfolio. She will be a definite asset to our team in finding impactful and innovative ways to promote our sport and contribute towards our vision of being the world leader in wheelchair basketball.”
Based at the national office in Ottawa, Ma will work closely with the Communications and Marketing Manager to increase sport and brand awareness and enhance relationships with key internal and external audiences. She will primarily be taking a lead in the area of digital communications, including the strategic management of the organization’s social media platforms.
Ma holds a bachelor of social sciences degree with honours in international development and globalization and a minor in psychology from the University of Ottawa.
She joins WBC after spending the past three years with The MATCH International Women’s Fund, a not-for-profit group that champions women’s issues and supports women’s rights organizations around the world. She most recently worked as a digital strategist with The MATCH Fund, sharing compelling stories and driving engagement through effective social media and marketing campaigns. She also has experience in communications and fundraising from her time with the organization, which includes contributing to an award-winning national brand campaign.
