National Academy to Host 3 on 3 Tournament October 19-20, 2013

Academy Tournament(Toronto, Ont.) The Wheelchair Basketball Canada National Academy will play host to a 3 on 3 wheelchair basketball tournament October 19-20, 2013 at the University of Toronto Scarborough. Admission to the tournament is free.

The tournament will feature National Academy athletes as well as athletes from the local club teams in the Canadian Wheelchair Basketball League (CWBL). Game action begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Spectators will have the opportunity to give the sport a try during a First Contact session from 12-1 p.m. on Saturday, October 19th. Alongside National Academy athletes, spectators will learn some of the basics of the sport, such as pushing, dribbling, and shooting.

The National Academy will periodically host tournaments and events designed to further the development of Canadian high performance athletes, coaches and technical officials.

The Wheelchair Basketball Canada National Academy is the world’s first full-time, year-round, daily training environment for high performance wheelchair basketball athletes.
