Ontario White, Quebec Blanc A Win 2013 Junior East Regional Championship

(Charlottetown, PEI) Team Ontario White and Team Quebec Blanc A were crowned the victors in their respective divisions at the 2013 Junior East Regional Wheelchair Basketball Championship in Charlottetown on Sunday.

Ontario White defeated Quebec Blanc B 27-21 in overtime in the gold medal game of the 9-point division. Quebec Bleu B claimed the bronze medal with a 15-6 victory over Ontario Red.

In the open division, Quebec Blanc A seized gold with a 29-24 win over the hometown team from Prince Edward Island. New Brunswick C captured the bronze medal after defeating Quebec Bleu A 24-22.

Benjamin Palmer, of Laval, Que., was named the MVP of the 9-point division. Marc Laurence (Quebec Bleu B), Élodie Tessier (Quebec Bleu B), Francis Vallée (Quebec Blanc B) and Kevin Wakeling (Ontario White) were named to the all-star team.

Nicolas Palmer, of Laval, Que., was named the MVP of the open point division. Vincent Dallaire (Quebec Bleu A), Joel Watts (Prince Edward Island), Rosalie Lalonde (Quebec Bleu A) and Jake Fudge (New Brunswick C) were named all-stars.

The 3-on-3 tournament featured the top junior aged athletes (born on January 1, 1991 or later) in Eastern Canada from the provinces of New Brunswick, Ontario, PEI, and Quebec, who are age-eligible to participate in the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

The Championship was co-hosted by ParaSport and Recreation PEI and Wheelchair Basketball Canada.
