The Canada Games take place every two years, alternating between the summer and winter program. The Games act as a stepping stone in the development of Canada’s next generation of national, international, Olympic and Paralympic champions. Each province has played host to the Games at least once since their inception in Quebec City in 1967.

Wheelchair basketball made its debut at the winter edition of the Canada Games in 1995.
