Wheelchair Basketball Canada Unveils Video to Commemorate 2014 Women’s World Championship Gold Medal Victory

(Ottawa, Ont.) Today marks 150 days since Team Canada struck gold on home soil at the 2014 Women’s World Wheelchair Basketball Championship in Toronto, Ont. The Canadian women rallied to victory through hard work and a commitment to excellence and each other. With a strong sense of unity, the team displayed great poise and resilience throughout the tournament, upsetting the reigning Paralympic bronze, silver and gold medalists en route to the gold medal.

The victory marked a seventh consecutive podium finish at the world championship for Team Canada, and the team’s fifth gold medal in the history of the tournament. In total, Canada has captured five gold medals and two bronze since the inaugural women’s world championship in 1990, continuing its legacy as one of the most successful teams in the history of Canadian amateur sport.
