Wheelchair Basketball Canada Congratulates Coaching Great Tim Frick On Induction Into Canada’s Sports Hall Of Fame

(Ottawa, Ont.) Wheelchair Basketball Canada congratulates legendary coach Tim Frick who will be inducted into the Canada Sports Hall of Fame in the builder category.

Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame announced on Wednesday that Frick, of Pender Island, B.C., will be inducted alongside fellow builder Kathy Shields (basketball), and athletes Horst Bulau (ski jumping), the late Sarah Burke (freestyle skiing), Pierre Harvey (cross-country skiing, cycling), Geraldine Heaney (hockey), Elizabeth Manley (figure skating), and Gareth Rees (rugby) at an induction ceremony on October 22, 2014 in Toronto, Ont.

“When I look at who is already in, it is both thrilling and humbling to join Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame. To be the first Paralympic coach inducted is very special, but it would not be possible without the tremendous group of players who worked so hard and believed in both themselves and the team. This recognition belongs to them and to the people who so selflessly supported our dreams of gold. I could never truly thank them all,” said Frick.

“On behalf of the entire wheelchair basketball community I would like to offer Tim a very heartfelt congratulations on being named to Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2014. It is an incredible honour that is truly well deserved. In addition to being a remarkable individual, through unparalleled dedication and vision Tim continues to set the bar for all Canadians as a true pioneer, mentor, and ambassador for sport, said Wheelchair Basketball Canada Executive Director Wendy Gittens.
