WBC launches updated registration process for its 2026 domestic championships calendar

Early team registration deadline is Nov. 30, 2025

OTTAWA, ONT. – Wheelchair Basketball Canada is now accepting team registrations for the 2026 domestic championships calendar. Teams that register by Nov. 30, 2025, will benefit from discounted rates and receive monthly tournament updates. Registration will remain open until Jan. 31, 2026; however, entries submitted after Nov. 30, 2025, will be subject to full registration fees.

The 2026 domestic calendar will commence with the Canadian Wheelchair Basketball League (CWBL) Finals, followed by the National Championships, and conclude with the Junior National Championships.

“We’re excited to launch this new registration process and encourage all teams to take advantage of administrative and cost savings,” said Kathleen O’Nyon, Wheelchair Basketball Canada’s Membership Coordinator. “Early registrations create advantages for both participating teams and event hosts as we look to improve the overall team experience at our events. If you are considering participating in a championship event, be sure to secure your spot through early registration.”

The Alberta Northern Lights will celebrate their 50th anniversary by hosting the CWBL Finals, taking place April 17–19 at the Saville Community Sports Centre in Edmonton, Alta., in partnership with Wheelchair Sports Alberta. The CWBL Finals will welcome club teams from across the country and feature a new dedicated recreational division and 3×3 competition.

The National Championships are set for May 15–17 at the Richmond Olympic Oval in Richmond, B.C., as part of the inaugural OneAbility Games. Hosted by the BC Wheelchair Basketball Society, the event will feature men’s and women’s divisions, bringing together the nation’s top athletes to compete for provincial pride.

The domestic season concludes with the Junior National Championships, hosted by Parasports Quebec, which serves as the seeding tournament for the 2027 Canada Winter Games. Further details on the Junior Nationals will be shared at a later date.
