Wheelchair Basketball Canada High Performance Assistant Coordinator

Contract Terms:

  • 8 weeks (July 6-Aug. 28, 2026)
  • $17.20/hour, 35 hours/week
  • Hybrid position, based in Ottawa or Toronto is an asset
  • Full-time summer student contract
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required
  • Travel and event attendance required as needed

Responsibilities

  • Support planning and execution of National Team and Next Gen programs
    • Support planning and communication of logistics for National Teams and Next Gen programs.
    • Prepare and distribute detailed itineraries, schedules and event information.
    • Collect and organize athlete documentation when necessary
    • Attend events when possible.
  • Hosting support for international tournament
    • Assist in planning all aspects of the event.
    • Coordinate and communicate logistics for visiting teams; including accommodation, transportation, meals, equipment storage and venue arrangement.
    • Support volunteer coordination and on-site management during event
    • Liaise with teams, officials and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate alignment between high-performance and domestic development objectives
    • Identify opportunities to integrate domestic initiatives into high performance programs to assist pathway development
    • Lead communication and knowledge sharing between departments
  • Administrative responsibilities
    • Prepare and distribute communications with athletes, coaches and staff ensuring timely dissemination of information
    • Create and present event summary reports; including feedback forms, attendance records, contacts, budgets etc.
    • Support the integration of RAMP Interactive as a membership database for high performance and Next Gen registration

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education or experience in sport administration;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills;
  • Experience in event planning

Qualifications Considered an Asset

  • Experience working in a sport environment;
  • Familiarity with high-performance sports or adaptive sports is an asset;
  • Oral and written fluency in French;

Eligibility Requirements

  • Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
  • A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • All employees will need to submit a Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen
  • As this job requires travel, you must have access to a smartphone and have a valid driver’s license
