2023 CWBL Women’s National Championship heads to Montreal April 14-16

Centre Pierre Charbonneau will play host to the top women’s Wheelchair Basketball players in the country

The top women’s Wheelchair Basketball players in Canada will descend on Montreal from April 14-16 in pursuit of the national title. Some of Canada’s top Paralympians will battle for the national championship crown, while the tournament will also include a 3-on-3 competition for the second consecutive year.

Media and fans are welcome to come experience the speed and skill that makes wheelchair basketball a fan favourite and one of the most popular adaptive sports in the world. The competition begins at 3:00 p.m. ET on Friday, April 14, and concludes with the gold medal game starting at 12:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 16.

Paralympians Élodie Tessier, Cindy Ouellet, Sandrine Bérubé, Rosalie Lalonde, and the rest of Team Quebec will welcome the defending champions in Team BC, Ontario and a team featuring the top female athletes from Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

The tournament will feature over 40 athletes, including current and future Canadian Women’s National Team stars. The competition is also inclusive, as athletes with a disability and able-bodied athletes compete together on a level playing field.

The CWBL Women’s National Championship will include a development camp from 9:00 a.m. – Noon ET on Friday, April 14. The tournament begins with the opening ceremony at 2:00 p.m. ET, and the 2022 Champion Team BC and host Quebec feature game will tip off at 3:00 p.m. ET.

The event is governed by Wheelchair Basketball Canada (WBC) and presented by Parasports Quebec.
