All-B.C. final in Division 2 gold medal game will see Fraser Valley square off against Prince George on Sunday
(EDMONTON, Alta. ) – The Alberta Northern Lights and Variety Village are set to clash for Division 1 gold at the 2026 CWBL Finals on Sunday in Edmonton.
Alberta secured its place in the championship game with a 74–60 victory over Centre d’intégration à la vie active in the semifinals. The win marked the second time in as many meetings that the Northern Lights got the better of CIVA, having also earned a 73–57 decision over the defending champions in Friday’s Hall of Fame Game.
“Being able to play with these guys – I missed it so much last year. I’m happy to be a part of it now,” said Reed De’Aeth, who was recovering from an injury at the 2025 CWBL Finals. “It feels amazing, but I’ve got to give them props; they’re an amazing team. They put up a fight in both games; we had to work our butts off for it. Nothing was easy. Kudos to them. Great team.”
Variety Village punched its ticket to the gold medal game in emphatic fashion, cruising past the Twin City Spinners 58–25 in the semifinals. Like the Northern Lights, Variety Village heads into Sunday’s championship showdown with a perfect record.
The Rolling Rebels also impressed, opening their campaign with a commanding 70–49 victory over the Calgary Rollers before following it up with an 80–56 win against the Gladiateurs de Laval.
In Division 2, the Prince George Lumberjacks will face Fraser Valley in an all-B.C. championship showdown.
After going undefeated through Friday’s action, the Lumberjacks carried that momentum into Saturday, defeating the Edmonton Inferno 87–57 in the semifinals to secure their place in the gold medal game.
“It’s really cool to see how far our Prince George program has come in the last four or five years and to be able to compete at this level,” said Joel Ewert.
“You want to win, and you want to play well. I think we’re humming on all cylinders after today’s games, so we’re excited for what we can do tomorrow.”
Fraser Valley topped Club 99 71-57 on Saturday afternoon to earn its spot in the gold medal game. Fraser Valley opened the tournament with a 66-58 win over Club 99 on Friday and secured its spot in the semifinals with a 76-43 win over the Edmonton Inferno.
The Kamloops Bulldawgs and Lethbridge Steamers are set to square off for Division 3 gold on Sunday at 8:45 a.m. MDT.
Kamloops secured its place in the championship game with a 49–31 semifinals victory over Medicine Hat. Lethbridge, meanwhile, earned its berth by outlasting Ottawa 43–36 in a hard-fought final four matchup.
