Canadian Paralympic Committee Para-Equipment & Recruitment Program Funds Now Available – Apply Today

CPC(Ottawa, ON) The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) invites Canadian sport organizations to apply for the 2013-14 granting round of the Para-Equipment and the Recruitment Program Funds.

A successful Parasport system begins with increased awareness and recruitment of participants at the grassroots Parasport level; a sport cannot have a Podium full of athletes without a playground full of participants. In order to facilitate increased participation of Canadians with a disability at the ‘playground’ level, the CPC has the Para-Equipment Fund and the Recruitment Program Fund.

The granting processes are intended to support the creation of a new program, or go towards the expansion of an existing successful initiative providing a positive introductory Parasport experience.

The Para-Equipment Fund presented by Petro-Canada aims to assist local and provincial organizations in delivering recruitment programming. It is designed to facilitate the participation of an increased number of people with a disability in Parasport by expanding the availability of introductory-based equipment, particularly for first contact and equipment loan programs. Grants are awarded to cover 50 per cent of the total cost of equipment up to a maximum of $5,000.

The Recruitment Program Fund presented by RBC Insurance is intended to support the creation of a new program, or go towards the expansion of an existing successful initiative providing a positive introductory Parasport experience. Funds may be used towards enhancing program options, such as facility rental space, coaching, volunteer training and more.

Applications for a Recruitment Programs and/or Para-Equipment Funding grant must be received no later than midnight (EST) on February 19th, 2013.

An interactive webinar to help applicants with their grants will take place Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 7pm EST. For an invitation with the information please email Laura Ferris at lferris@paralympic.ca.
