Canadian Women’s team heads to Quebec for Americas Cup prep

Camp runs July 3-8 at Corporation Du Fort St-Jean

The Canadian Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team will hold a training camp at Corporation Du Fort St-Jean in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Québec, from July 3-8, 2022. The four-day camp will feature 11 athletes and serve as the final preparation for the IWBF Americas Cup.

The mix of on-court and off-court activities will allow the athletes to fine-tune aspects of their game following last month’s friendlies against the Netherlands and Germany. Additionally, the camp will allow the athletes to build team chemistry before departing for Brazil.

“As our women’s team prepares for the Americas Cup, this four-day camp in Quebec will provide an excellent opportunity for our athletes to work on their game before the Americas Cup,” said Jeff Dunbrack, Wheelchair Basketball Canada High Performance Director. “This camp will also allow our staff and athletes to build off June’s games in the Netherlands.”

The women’s team will play in Group B at the IWBF Americas Cup (July 13-18) in São Paulo, Brazil, with Brazil, Bolivia, and Guatemala. The top three women’s teams will earn the right to represent the Americas Zone at the IWBF World Championships in Dubai (Nov. 16-27, 2022).
