National Team selection camp set for Richmond Olympic Oval

Thirty-four athletes to attend the six-day camp

(RICHMOND, B.C.) – Wheelchair Basketball Canada (WBC) will host its National Team selection camp at the Richmond Olympic Oval in Richmond, B.C., from May 17–22, 2026.

The six-day camp will bring together 34 athletes from across the country as Canada’s National Team program begins preparations for the 2026 IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships, set to take place in Ottawa, Ont., from Sept. 9–19, 2026.

Throughout the camp, athletes and staff will focus on building high-performance habits, strengthening team culture and continuing to prioritize athlete well-being in a competitive training environment.

“This camp will provide an important opportunity for our staff to evaluate athletes ahead of final roster selections for this summer’s competitions,” said Jeff Dunbrack, Wheelchair Basketball Canada High Performance Director. “It will also give our athletes and coaches valuable time to implement technical and tactical systems as we continue building toward the World Championships.”

Members of the media seeking b-roll footage or interview opportunities with members of the National Team are asked to contact Dhiren Mahiban at dmahiban@wheelchairbasketball.ca.
