Quebec, Ontario victorious on Day 1 at 2023 CWBL Women’s Nationals

B.C., the reigning champions, fell 68-31 in the tournament opener

The host Quebec opened the 2023 CWBL Women’s National Championship with a 68-31 victory over the defending champion Team B.C. on Friday in Montreal.

Rosalie Lalonde paced Quebec with 14 points, while Cindy Ouellet added 11 points and six rebounds. Aurélie Jacob-Verreault chipped in 10 points in the win. Tara Llanes and Lanette Boland each had nine points for B.C.

In the second game, Ontario defeated the team of mixed athletes 40-35. Ontario led 20-18 at halftime and managed to hang on to the lead through the second half, despite a late push from the team of mixed athletes.

Action resumes on Saturday as Ontario will face Quebec at 9 a.m. ET. The team of mixed athletes will then play Team B.C. at 10:45 a.m. ET, and Ontario will tip-off against Team B.C. at 2:00 p.m. ET. The 5-on-5 action concludes with Quebec and the team of mixed athletes at 3:45 p.m. ET.

The 3-on-3 recreational competition tips off on Saturday morning with the Bulldogs facing team BC 1 at 9:00 a.m. ET.
