Quebec wins gold at 2023 CWBL Women’s Nationals

The hosts defeated B.C. 67-24 in Sunday’s gold medal game

Quebec defeated B.C. 67-24 to win gold at the 2023 CWBL Women’s National Championship at Centre Pierre Charbonneau on Sunday.

Sunday’s final was a rematch of the 2022 gold medal game, which B.C. won 66-52. It is the first time since 2019 that Quebec has won the women’s title.

Rosalie Lalonde and Cindy Ouellet each had 16 points in the win. Sandrine Berube added 11 points and six rebounds. BC was paced by Lannette Boland, who had a team-high eight points. Katie Miyazaki added six points and 10 rebounds.

The team of mixed athletes topped Ontario 62-50 to capture bronze at the CWBL Women’s Nationals. The mixed athletes were led offensively by Anikka Cassidy, who scored a team-high 27 points and 13 rebounds. Mia Tremblay added 16 points and eight rebounds.

Tamara Steeves paced Ontario with a game-high 28 points and 12 rebounds. Puisand Lai chipped in 10 points.

In the 3-on-3 tournament, the Bulldogs defeated Team BC 2 5-3 in overtime in the gold medal game. Team Quebec edged Team BC 1 6-5 in the bronze medal game.
