The athletes representing Manitoba and New Brunswick won gold in Division 2
The Scarborough Tigers defeated the Gladiateurs de Laval 70-57 to win the Division 1 CWBL National Championship on Sunday at the Centre Pierre Charbonneau in Montreal.
Led by tournament MVP Patrick Anderson, the Tigers had a 12-point cushion at halftime and never surrendered.
“I’m having as much fun as I ever had on the court,” said Anderson. “To do it with some friends in Jesse McNally, Bo Hedges, and Tyler Miller, and some new guys, it was just a really fun mix of players. It was great to be back in the Canadian club league again after a long break.”
The loss ends a streak of three consecutive titles for the Gladiateurs.
CIVA took bronze in Division 1, defeating the Calgary Rollers 73-47.
The group of athletes representing Manitoba and New Brunswick won gold in Division 2, defeating the Vikings 65-44.
“I think it is fantastic,” said coach Nat Young. “We put together a mixed group of athletes, and we really came together, worked on the basics, and it got us the gold.”
Les Glaciers edged the BC Orcas 40-39 to capture bronze in Division 2.

Wheelchair Basketball Canada and Parasports Quebec co-hosted the three-day tournament. It featured the top club teams in the country competing for the title of national champions in two divisions at the Centre Pierre Charbonneau. The tournament is inclusive with athletes with and without a disability competing together on a level playing field.
