Wheelchair Basketball Canada Suspends All Programming in Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

(Ottawa, Ont.) Amid growing concerns around the COVID-19 pandemic, Wheelchair Basketball Canada (WBC) has made the difficult decision to suspend all programming until further notice, including all National Team program activities and WBC-sanctioned domestic events.

“The health and safety of athletes, coaches, officials, staff, partners, volunteers, fans and the general public take precedence above all else,” said WBC Executive Director Wendy Gittens. “While this decision was not made lightly, we felt it prudent to rise to the occasion in the interest of public safety to mitigate the risks associated with the spread of COVID-19.”

WBC continues to monitor the latest information from public health officials and maintain open communication with all National Team program athletes and member organizations across Canada regarding this evolving situation.
