
Rosie Long
Rosie Long was introduced to wheelchair basketball by Burlington Vipers coach Chris Chandler.
Long suffered a spinal cord injury in November 2016 when she was hit by a bus. Chandler heard of Long’s story and reached out to her parents on social media to gauge her interest in trying wheelchair basketball.
The thought of representing Canada at a Paralympics in the future is ultimately what sold Long on Wheelchair Basketball.
The Oakville native was an avid horseback rider and gymnast before her accident, and plays sledge hockey recreationally.
In March 2022, Long was invited to the women’s development camp in Toronto, an opportunity to learn from some of the more experienced athletes in the country.
Long represented Team Ontario at the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Charlottetown, P.E.i.
In February 2025, Long was part of the Team Canada squad that competed in the Osaka Cup.
Off the court, Long is an art history major at the University of Arizona.
