Claire Buchanan
Biography
Claire Buchanan was first introduced to wheelchair basketball by her sledge hockey teammates. She was immediately drawn to the physically demanding nature of wheelchair basketball. She enjoys the fact that the game is not only physically, but also mentally demanding, constantly requiring 100% effort and intensity.
She has joined the academy to improve her strength, and push her game to the next level. Buchanan hopes the daily on-court training provided by the academy will permit her to become a fixture on the basketball court. The program also gives Buchanan the chance to play beside some veteran Team Canada players, who she includes as role models.
Outside of basketball, Buchanan is a member of the Candian Women’s Sledge Hockey team.
