Kevin Wakeling
Biography:
Kevin Wakeling credits his many coaches for his swift development on the basketball court and he thrives on the thrill of the competition. In four short years he evolved from a new recruit to a promising member of the Canadian National Team program.
Wakeling first discovered wheelchair basketball as a teenager at a parasport camp in his hometown of Cambridge, Ontario in 2009. He wasted little time getting involved with the sport and joined the junior program with a local club team in Kitchener.
He later graduated to the senior program with the Twin City Spinners. With hard work and the support of his teammates and coaches, Wakeling honed his skills and improved his overall game. He went on to compete for Team Ontario at both the Canada Games and the National Championships.
Wakeling made his Team Canada debut in 2013 after earning a roster spot with the Junior Men’s National Team. He considers the opportunity to don the Canadian jersey and represent his country on the international stage to be a great honour.
Outside of wheelchair basketball, Wakeling enjoys the outdoors, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends. He is also a big fan of paintball.
