
Alex Courcelles
Biography:
Alex Courcelles got his start in wheelchair basketball by playing with a local mini-program in St. Jerome.
In 2011, he began attending national junior team training camps, making the team for qualifiers in 2013. He helped Team Canada win gold at the U23 Qualification Tournament in Mexico City, MEX, clinching Canada’s spot in the 2013 World Juniors.
“It’s a great honour to represent my country and to show the world that Canada is a force in wheelchair sports, especially basketball,” he says.
Courcelles enjoys the physicality and strategy of the game. He trains 6 days a week in addition to tournaments and training camps.
Off the court, Courcelles enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He says his role models are his parents.
