Biography

Aaron Moseley-Williams was introduced to wheelchair basketball by Manitoba provincial coach Mandy Johnson, who stopped him at a mall and asked him to give the sport a try. He has been hooked ever since and particularly enjoys the speed and intense pace of wheelchair basketball.

Under the wing of Johnson and her brother Bill, who happens to coach the Canadian women’s wheelchair basketball team, Moseley-Williams steadily honed his court skills in Winnipeg before carving his own path toward the national team.

Merely a year after discovering the sport, Moseley-Williams made his debut with Team Canada at the 2009 world junior championship in Paris, France.

He says the opportunity to represent Canada is the ultimate goal of an athlete in any sport, and after that brief stint with the junior team Moseley-Williams set his sights on earning a roster spot with the senior men’s national team. He accomplished that feat in 2013.

“I look forward to sporting my nation’s flag as myself and my teammates do battle on the international stage to keep Canada on top yet again,” he says.

Upon completing his studies at the University of Winnipeg, Moseley-Williams hopes to pursue a Masters degree and join a collegiate wheelchair basketball program in the United States to further develop his game.
