
Bernard Rosello
Biography :
Bernard Rosello was first introduced to wheelchair basketball by a sledge hockey teammate and was immediately hooked on the sport.
The Winnipeg, Man. native was 12 years old when he first tried wheelchair basketball, but it quickly became his passion.
Born with proximal femoral focal deficiency – a condition affecting the development of his hip and leg, Rosello played basketball and volleyball growing up in elementary and high school.
In addition to sledge hockey, teammates have tried to recruit him to sitting volleyball, but wheelchair basketball has remained his go-to sport.
Rosello was the recipient Petro-Canada FACE grant in August 2024, providing him with funding towards his training.
The Winnipeg native was part of Canada’s Men’s Under-23 team at the 2022 IWBF America’s Men’s Under-23 Americas Championship in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. He also suited up for Canada at the 2024 Kitakyushu Champions Cup in November 2024.
Off the court, Rosello’s passion is cars. He plans on attending Red River College in the fall of 2025, focusing his education on autobody repair.

2025: Named to Team Canada’s Men’s Under-23 World Championship roster… Qualified for Under-23 World Championship with a 55-54 victory over Brazil in semifinals at the IWBF Men’s U23 Americas Championship in Bogotá, Colombia… Competed with Manitoba at the National Championships in Oshawa, Ont.
2024: 2nd place finish with Canadian NextGen Team at Kitakyushu Champions Cup in Kitakyushu, Japan…
