Danielle Arbour
Biography
Danielle Arbour’s wheelchair basketball journey began in 2011, when she had the opportunity to meet a number of Olympians and Paralympians and discuss each of their respective sports. Wheelchair basketball was the one sport that stuck in her mind, and Arbour began playing with the local Easter Seals program the following week. She has been hooked ever since.
Arbour appreciates the inclusive nature of wheelchair basketball. She enjoys the high-speed and intensity of the game and is known for her aggressive and fast style of play. A team player, Arbour will do whatever it takes to help her teammates and to win the game.
As Newfoundland does not have a wheelchair basketball league, the St. John’s native plays wih the local Easter Seals program twice a week. Arbour was introduced to the national program by Coach Steve Bialowes, who travelled to Newfoundland for training camps. The opportunity to represent Canada is an incredible honour for Arbour.
Outside of basketball, Arbour enjoys singing, playing sledge hockey and spending time with her family and friends. Her role models are her parents.
