Biography

Sara Black was introduced to the sport of wheelchair basketball by a family friend, who was working for the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games and suggested Black try the sport.

The native of Toronto, Ont. enjoys the team aspect of wheelchair basketball and relishes the competitive nature of the sport. A high-intensity athlete, Black forces opponents to earn every inch of the court. She values the importance of working as a team and of trusting her teammates to achieve success.

Before getting her start with the Women’s U25 National Team in 2014, Black began her career with the club team Variety Village. Throughout her career, Black has taken every opportunity possible to learn from different coaches and teammates.

Representing Team Canada has been a long-time goal for Black, and she is honoured to have the opportunity to wear the maple leaf on her chest.

Outside of wheelchair basketball, Black enjoys various other athletic pursuits including taekwondo, skiing, snowboarding and running.
