(Ottawa, ON) Wheelchair Basketball Canada is pleased to announce that Ryan Lauzon has joined the organization as High Performance Coordinator. Lauzon takes over the position from Christina Swett who is temporarily acting as Program Coordinator (covering maternity leave).
As High Performance Coordinator, Lauzon will work closely with the High Performance Director and national team coaches (senior, junior, and espoir) to help ensure the success of Canada’s national teams. He will be primarily responsible for providing all of the logistical support for the national teams at camps and competitions.
“Ryan’s enthusiasm and energy will make him a great addition to the High Performance department. We are certainly looking forward to having him involved with our national teams,” said Paul Zachau, Wheelchair Basketball Canada High Performance Director.
Lauzon is working towards a Masters of Sports and Recreation from the University of New Brunswick (UNB). Most recently he worked with the Canadian Soccer Association in event coordination. He is himself a gifted multi-sport athlete who played soccer and football at the university level. He was an assistant captain of the UNB Men’s Soccer team, Academic All Canadian, and Varsity Athlete of the Month, finishing as high as second at the 2009 Canadian Interuniversity Sports Championships.
He has also served on numerous sports related committees and councils, and was a volunteer at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. Lauzon is a Certified Level 1 coach in soccer, gymnastics, and volleyball.
