Wheelchair Basketball Part of ParticipACTION’s 150 Play List

To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, ParticipACTION has created a list of 150 physical activities that define us as Canadian. Wheelchair Basketball Canada (WBC) is proud to see the inclusion of wheelchair basketball on the 150 Play List. Thank you to all who voted for our great sport!

The 150 Play List launched on January 6, 2017 and will close on December 2nd, 2017. ParticipACTION is encouraging all Canadians to participate in as many of the physical activities as they can throughout this period and keep track of them on the ParticipACTION website.

Get Involved in Wheelchair Basketball

Did you know that wheelchair basketball is truly a sport for everyone? WBC believes that inclusion is fundamental to achieving equity and access in sport and therefore we promote the “sport for all” concept, encouraging athletes with a disability and able-bodied athletes to compete together on the same basketball court. Learn more about wheelchair basketball here.

There are numerous wheelchair basketball teams and clubs targeting various ages and skills located throughout Canada. Most of these programs are coordinated by independent provincial and regional organizations. To find a program located in, or around, your community visit our Find A Club page.

More details surrounding wheelchair basketball 150 Play List activities will be revealed at a later date.
