WBC confirms hosts for upcoming national events

Host cities for CWBL Women’s Nationals, CWBL Nationals and Junior Nationals named

Wheelchair Basketball Canada has confirmed the dates and host communities for 13 events between 2024 and 2027, including the CWBL Women’s Nationals, CWBL Nationals and Junior Nationals.

“Wheelchair Basketball Canada is excited to announce the host cities for our domestic championships over the next four years. These tournaments play an important role in the development of athletes, coaches and officials in Canada,” said Wheelchair Basketball Canada Executive Director Wendy Gittens. “We hope that hosting these events will help introduce new fans and athletes to wheelchair basketball, create lifelong memories and positively impact each community.”

The 2024 calendar will tip off with the Junior East Championship hosted by Parasports Quebec at the Centre Pierre-Charbonneau from March 8-10, 2024. The following weekend, the Saskatchewan Wheelchair Sports Association will host the Junior West Championship at the REAL District in Regina (March 15-17, 2024).

The CWBL Women’s National Championship will take place March 22-24, 2024, at College la Cité in Ottawa and the 2024 domestic calendar will wrap up with the CWBL National Championship, hosted by Parasport New Brunswick at the Richard J. Currie Center in Fredericton (TBD).

Wheelchair Sports Alberta will kick off the 2025 calendar, hosting the Junior West Championship at the Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge in Calgary from March 8-10, 2025. The Junior East Championship will take place at The Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre at UPEI, hosted by ParaSport and Recreation PEI from April 4-6, 2025.

The CWBL National Championship hosted by Parasports Quebec will return to Centre Pierre-Charbonneau from April 11-13, 2025, and the CWBL Women’s Nationals will conclude the 2025 domestic calendar at Durham College/Ontario Tech University in Oshawa, Ont. May 23-25, 2025, hosted by the Ontario Para Network.

The Alberta Northern Lights will celebrate the club’s 50th anniversary by hosting the 2026 CWBL Nationals from April 16-19, 2026, in partnership with Wheelchair Sports Alberta and the Saville Community Sports Centre. The BC Wheelchair Basketball Society will host the CWBL Women’s Nationals (TBD) at the Richmond Olympic Oval. The 2026 Junior National Championship will run May 1-3, 2026, hosted by Parasports Quebec at PEPS de l’Université Laval in Quebec City.

Parasports Quebec will host the 2027 CWBL Women’s National Championship at the Centre Pierre-Charbonneau from May 7-9, 2027, and the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre will be the site of the 2027 CWBL National Championship, hosted by ParaSport and Recreation PEI (TBD).
