Jack Kosterman
Biography:
Jack Kosterman describes his style of play as bold and aggressive. He enjoys the contact and physicality of the game, as well as the strategic aspect.
As a former stand up basketball player, Kosterman says he sees the court well and can make plays in the fast-paced environment of the game.
Kosterman was 10 when he was first introduced to wheelchair basketball by a school occupational therapist, who put him in contact with BC Wheelchair Basketball. He participated in Bridging the Gap’s [Have A Go Day] and was hooked. He began attending regional junior practices and soon progressed to the provincial level, representing British Columbia at the 2011 Canada Games in Halifax, NS.
A rising star, Kosterman made the men’s U23 national team in 2013, just shy of his fifteenth birthday. Kosterman says being part of Team Canada is the ultimate dream. “There is no greater privilege than representing such a great nation.”
Kosterman has a full training schedule, shooting 7 days a week, while doing cardio, chair skills and strength training 6 days a week.
Off the court, Kosterman unwinds by hanging out with friends, watching movies and weight lifting. His role models include national wheelchair basketball stars Pat Anderson and Bo Hedges, as well as his dad.
